Marta Ocampo

Marta O. Ocampo is a retired band/mariachi director of 37 years. She is a graduate of the University of North Texas (NTSU) with a Bachelor of Music Education and of Southern Methodist University with a Master of Music Education.
Her career includes working for Duncanville ISD, The Diocese of Dallas, Arlington ISD, Fort Worth ISD and Grand Prairie ISD. During her career, she was selected Teacher of the Year from Bishop Dunne HS, Diocese of Dallas, 1994, Polytechnic HS, Fort Worth ISD, 2011 and Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy, Grand Prairie ISD, 2015. She was named Teacher of the Year for the Arts School Network in 2017.
During her retirement, she has worked as a consultant to Mesquite ISD, Richardson ISD, Arlington ISD, and Castleberry ISD. She has been a judge for the area UIL Mariachi festival and has been a clinician for region 5 and region 12.

Marta Is a proud wife to Adam Ocampo and has two daughters, Melina T. Gonzalez and Marissa Ocampo. She is also very proud of her son in law, Fernando Gonzalez and her two granddaughters, Liliana, and Ruby. She praises her family for their patience and understanding of her career and her former students for all their hard work and dedication to see the vision of the program.
