Texas State String Camp, June 17 - June 23, 2018

Texas State String Camp

Welcome! This summer marks the 32nd year that the Texas State String Camp has provided outstanding summer musical experiences for students 12-18 years of age. Our summer string camp gives students the opportunity to interact with the world-class musicians who comprise the faculty in the Texas State School of Music. Our goal is to provide exceptional experiences for musical and personal growth, ultimately enriching the quality of your child’s music education.

We are excited to announce that this year campers can submit recordings for the TSSC Concerto Competition! Spotlighting an exceptional young musician, the TSSC Concerto Competition gives a camper the opportunity to perform with a string orchestra throughout the week of camp and at the final concert.

All interested applicants must submit an application that includes a video recording of the applicant playing a movement of the listed compositions below. Please be sure to submit your video recording by April 30th, 2018. You can find the application form on our Required Forms page.

TSSC participants stay in Texas State residence halls and eat all meals in university dining halls. Camp staff over see all activities. Musical and recreational activities are balanced to pique students' interests and provide them with sufficient leisure time. What would summer camp be without fun? Participants will meet and play music with students from around the state and even a few from outside Texas, and participate in activities such as swimming, movies and more.

If you enjoy musical challenges and want to make new connections, the Texas State String Camp has much to offer! We sincerely hope that you will join us this summer for an exceptional week of musical study.
