Texas State String Camp

Welcome! This summer marks the 31st year that the Texas State String Camp has provided outstanding summer musical experiences for students 12-18 years of age. Our summer string camp gives students the opportunity to interact with the world-class musicians who comprise the faculty in the Texas State School of Music. Our goal is to provide exceptional experiences for musical and personal growth, ultimately enriching the quality of your child’s music education.

This year we are thrilled to announce violinist Katie Lansdale will be presenting a masterclass and recital for students at the TSSC. Ms. Lansdale is on faculty at the Boston Conservatory and the Berklee College of Music. Interested participants can submit an 8-10 minute video recording by April 1st. Please submit videos to

Participation in the Texas State String Camp encompasses performance experiences in multiple venues. From large ensembles to chamber music, our camps offer a wide spectrum of musical training. At TSSC you will discover new challenges to further your growth as a musician.

TSSC participants stay in Texas State residence halls and eat all meals in university dining halls. Camp staff over see all activities. Musical and recreational activities are balanced to pique students' interests and provide them with sufficient leisure time. What would summer camp be without fun? Participants will meet and play music with students from around the state and even a few from outside Texas, and participate in activities such as swimming, movies and more.

If you enjoy musical challenges and want to make new connections, the Texas State String Camp has much to offer! We sincerely hope that you will join us this summer for an exceptional week of musical study.
