Established in fall of 2008, 'Trio 488' is comprised of members from the applied music faculty at Texas State University. The goal of this group is to not only expose the vast amount of music written for this combination, but also to encourage and promote new music for this instrumentation. Within their first year, 'Trio 488' performed all around the country, was invited to perform at the International Double Reed Society in London, the International Conference in Arts and Humanities in Honolulu, Southwestern Chapter of College Music Society Conference, commissioned and premiered several works, and initiated plans for their first commercial CD.
Already highly recognized in their own field, members of 'Trio 488' are committed to exposing to the world the unique and beautiful sounds of this ensemble. Please check back often for news, performances and other future endeavors of 'Trio 488'.
Double Reeds at Texas State
Professors Ian Davidson and Daris Hale are members of the double reed faculty at Texas State University. Their duties include providing weekly lessons, organizing weekly seminars, coaching chamber groups, and coordinating solo and chamber recitals. Former students of Professors Davidson and Hale have gone on to achieve great success after Texas State as performers, teachers, and administrators.

Piano at Texas State
Professor Jason Kwak is the coordinator of the applied piano faculty at Texas State where he teaches applied piano to undergraduate and graduate piano majors.The Keyboard Area at Texas State University is comprised of several highly qualified faculty members dedicated to serve the needs of students. Members of the Keyboard Area are specialists in many areas including classical performance, jazz performance, collaborative performance, organ, group teaching, pedagogy, and chamber music. Currently, the Keyboard Area is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world.
