Texas State University School of Music is pleased to announce its annual Young Artist Piano Competition, which will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020. The competition gathers highly gifted young artists from varied ages and locations throughout the State of Texas.
The piano division provides our students with several performance and teaching opportunities around the world in order to develop and enhance their careers as soloists, collaborative artists, or teachers. Our students are exposed to a wide variety of professional activities including master classes and lectures by some of the most renowned artists in the world, as well as our annual International Piano Festival and Concerto Competition. In addition to lessons, studio recitals, and other performance projects, students also participate in a weekly piano seminar, where they perform on a regular basis and learn about technique, stage presence, practice methods, and essential concepts of piano pedagogy and literature. Collaborative experiences are an essential part of our pianists. They perform with other musicians through chamber music, piano ensembles, and large ensembles. Additionally, we offer Graduate Instructional and Teaching Assistantships in Accompanying and Class Piano.
Our dynamic piano faculty is comprised of experienced artist-teachers whose careers represent a diversity of backgrounds. Our approach to education encourages students to cultivate their own voices and musical values in order to become well-rounded musicians.
Come join us at Texas State!
