7th Texas State International Piano Festival

Housing
All 11-13 year olds will remain under counselor supervision during their entire stay; students 14 and up may travel in groups of 3 to 4 or in pairs based on the status approved by parents on the chaperone status form.

This policy does not apply to students in the College Division. Students may request a roommate. If both individuals request each other, those individuals will be placed together.

If no roommate is requested, pairings will be made considering grade, age and rooming preferences indicated on the Registration Form.

San Marcos is serviced by the Austin Bergstrom Airport, an easily accessible airport just 30 minutes from San Marcos. Most major carriers offer direct or connecting flights to the Austin airport. For airport information, go to

Escort Service at the Airport

Children flying to the airport can be met by a festival escort at the gate of their arrival. If your child is flying unaccompanied, we will provide you the information of the escort meeting your child.

Jury - Dickinson Piano Competition

Applicants must be at least age 18 at the beginning of the Competition (June 4, 2016) and no older than 35 at the end of the Competition (June 12, 2016).

All competitors must be participants in the 7th Texas State International Piano Festival.

Any applicant who falls into one of the categories below will NOT be eligible for this competition:
- Related to any member of the Jury or
- Has studied as a private student at a University or School of Music in the past four years with any member of the Jury as their primary teacher [excluding master classes, summer programs and festivals] or,
- Has been coached by a member of the Jury in preparation for the Competition

ALL SELECTED FINALISTS AND ALTERNATES are required to provide proof of a valid visa (for non-US citizens) and medical insurance upon acceptance.

Finalists may include all or part of their first round repertoire in their 30-minute competition program. The competition will have a 3 - 5 minute required repertoire.

Repertoire changes to the 30-minute competition program will not be allowed after April 1, 2016.

All finalists will receive a minimum of half-tuition scholarship to participate in the 7th Texas State International Piano Festival.

All works must be performed from memory (both in the video and live performances)

Competition finalists will be responsible for their own travel expenses to/from San Marcos, Texas. However, those students flying to/from the Austin International Airport, will be provided with complimentary transportation to/from San Marcos.

Saturday, June 4: Dickinson Competition finalists arrive on campus
- Opening ceremony of the Texas State International Piano Festival

Thursday, June 9: The 12 finalists will perform their 30 minute program for the jury.

Friday, June 10: The jury panel will deliberate

Saturday, June 11: The winner and alternate will be announced immediately after the finale concert with the Round Rock Symphony.

TSIPF Dickinson Piano Competition
TSIPF Y.A. Concerto Competition
for Y.A. Concerto Competition
- 12 finalists will be invited to compete with repertoire of choice, a 30 minute program at the festival.
Young Artist Concerto Competition
- Submit a DVD or YouTube links of a movement from the listed concerti, either with orchestral accompaniment or second piano accompaniment. Winners will perform the same movement with the Round Rock Symphony on the festival finale concert.
The winner of the TSIPF Dickinson Piano Competition will be invited back to Texas State University for a 3 to 4 day recording session. The recording engineer and the studio producer will be provided by Texas State International Piano Festival. Afterwards, the provided engineer will produce a fully edited digital Master DC-R or DDP Master to CENTAUR Records. CENTAUR will then produce a full length album in a compact disc format and promote and distribute it in all available formats including digital downloads and streams.

CENTAUR Records has distributors in the U.S., Canada, most of Europe, and in the Far East. CENTAUR also distributes on all major download and stream platforms, as well as on the specialty classical download and stream formats.
The pre-screening judges will listen to all recordings submitted by the applicants, and will select 12 finalists to attend the Competition and Festival. The pre-screening Judges will also name three applicants to serve as alternates.

This year's concerto competition will be open only to students in the Young Artist Division. Students who have not started College are invited to submit a DVD or YouTube links of a movement from the listed concerti, either with orchestral accompaniment or second piano accompaniment. Winners will perform the same movement with the Round Rock Symphony on the festival finale concert.

Winners of the Young Artist Concerto Competition will be notified by April 20, 2016.
7th TSIPF Competition
7th TSIPF Competition
Since the beginning of the festival, we have held a 'blind' competition during the festival where we awarded the top prize winner a special prize. This year, the winner of the competition will be invited back by the Round Rock Symphony to be a featured soloist during their 2015 - 2016 season.
