TXST Int'l Piano Competition Application
“I am willing to make the necessary commitments of time and energy to participate in the TSIPF and agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth.”
PRE-SCREENING ROUND - Applicants are required to submit 30 – 40 minutes of solo repertoire of their choice. Applicants are highly encouraged to submit music in various styles that best showcase their overall ability as a pianist. Movements of sonatas are allowed. Applicants are also required to submit a movement of a concerto from the following list:
- Mozart: Any Concerto
- Beethoven: Any Concerto
- Brahms: Any Concerto
- Chopin: Concertos 1 or 2
- Grieg: Concerto in A Minor
- Liszt: Totentanz, or Rhapsodie Espagnole
- Mendelssohn: Concerto No. 1 or Capriccio Brilliant Op. 22
- Prokofiev: Concerto Nos. 1 or 3
- Saint- Saëns: Concerto Nos. 2
- Schumann: Concerto in A Minor
- Rachmaninoff: Concerto Nos. 1,2, and Mvt. I of 3
- Tchaikovsky: Concerto No. 1
The concerto movement must be accompanied, either with orchestra or piano accompaniment.
FINAL SOLO ROUND - Chosen finalists will select a solo program of free repertoire between 25 – 30 minutes. Repertoire from the pre-screening program may be repeated in the final round. Along with the chosen solo repertoire, all finalists will perform a commissioned work, lasting between 5 – 7 minutes, in their program.
Please submit your final solo round program in order of performance. Please include placement of the commissioned work.
