Who can participate?
Any Texas State student is eligible to audition for the Texas State Symphony Orchestra. You do not have to be a music major to participate in the orchestra program at Texas State.

Do I have to audition to join the orchestra?
Yes. An audition is required for anyone who wishes to join and perform with the Texas State Symphony Orchestra. More information about auditions is available on our Fall 2020 Auditions webpage.

How often does the Texas State Symphony rehearse?
We rehearse MWF from 2:00-3:50 pm and perform approximately three concerts each semester.

Are scholarships available?
Orchestra scholarships and performance grants are potentially available to high-performing instrumentalists on a semester-by-semester basis by audition. For more information regarding consideration for a scholarship or performance grant, please contact the director of orchestral activites, Dr. Jacob Harrison - jgh111@txstate.edu.

Where can I purchase concert tickets?
You can purchase tickets at the Texas State Presents website, or visit the events section of our webpage.

Where can I park when coming to see a concert?
Texas State has very strict parking rules. If you are coming to see a performance in Evans Auditorium there is paid parking on the first floor of the Pleasant Street Garage. Parking for the Patti Strickel Harrison Theatre is paid parking behind the Theatre.

How much do tickets cost?
Ticket Prices are as follows: $10 Adult | $5 Students, Children, Seniors & Military plus $2 processing fee per ticket online or at the window.

Can I hire the Texas State Symphony Orchestra?
Yes, the Texas State Symphony Orchestra, selected players and chamber groups are potentially available for private functions and performances. Please submit your enquiry to music@txstate.edu

How has the COVID-19 Pandemic affected the orchestra?
The Texas State Symphony will be meeting in a limited, in-person modality for the Spring 2021 semester. Check out the Repertoire tab at the top of this page to learn more about what the orchestra will be performing.
