Barbara B. Elliott, a lecturer in Music Education, is a graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a Master's degree in Music (emphasis on elementary general music). She taught elementary music for 10 years in the public schools of Comal I.S.D, New Braunfels I.S.D and Northeast I.S.D (San Antonio). Mrs. Elliott also taught middle school choir and voice lessons in New Braunfels. In addition to her work at Texas State, Mrs. Elliott maintains a private piano studio in New Braunfels.
As an undergraduate and graduate student, Mrs. Elliott had the privilege of singing with the Baylor University A Capella Choir and the distinguished Baylor University Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Donald Bailey. Mrs. Elliott continues to participate in choral music and is also active as an accompanist.
Mrs. Elliott research interests include the Texas UIL Music Memory program and also classroom management strategies and techniques in the elementary general music classroom. She presents seminars on Assertive Discipline and its application in the elementary music classroom.
