
POSITION Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands/Music
Full-time, tenure track position in the School of Music
APPOINTMENT Appointment is to begin on or about August 1, 2008.
RESPONSIBILITIES Direct and provide leadership for the Texas State Bobcat Marching Band, including music selection, show design, and supervision of staff. Conduct the Symphonic Band, Bobcat Basketball Band and teach courses in the music education curriculum, including marching band techniques. Additional responsibilities may include conducting student teaching observations, assisting the Director of Bands in the administration of the overall band program, recruiting for the School of Music and assisting with Summer Band Camps.
QUALIFICATIONS Doctorate in Music required. Required qualifications include successful high school and/or college marching band teaching experience; knowledge of current computer drill design software; demonstrated success in recruiting and working collaboratively with public school band programs. Preference will be given to candidates with proven experience as a show designer and substantial high school teaching experience. Candidates must have the ability to work effectively with ethnically, culturally, and socio-economically diverse students.
RANK AND SALARY Assistant/Associate Professor. Salary commensurate with experience.
