Undergraduate Advising Information

There is a unique advisor, skilled in music major degree issues, to help you – Debra Sowards.

How do I make an appointment with my advisor?

Firefox Users

Explorer Use

- log on to Bobcat Mail
- Click on the Calendar icon.
- Click on "New Meeting Request"

Next to “Required...” put DS73@txstate.edu (for Debra)
Subject = YOUR NAME & ID NUMBER (this is very important!)
Location = Old Main 110 (Debra)

- Click on “Scheduling Assistant” tab
- On left column:

Change month/day as necessary
Change DURATION to 30 minutes
Make sure “Show only working hours” box is checked
Click Update

- Review dates & times that show “2 of 2 free”

These are the days/times that are available for you to make an appointment.

- Click on the TIME you & your advisor are free.

** DO NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT DURING A CLASS **
Make sure the appointment is for 30 minutes ONLY
Change “Show time as:” to BUSY

- Check!

Is the appointment 30 mins?
Have you put your Name & ID in the subject line?
Are YOU free as well as your advisor?
Check the location of your appointment.

- Click “Send”

- log on to Bobcat Mail
- Click on the down arrow beside “New”
- Click on "New Meeting Request"

Next to “Required...” put DS73@txstate.edu (for Debra)
Subject = YOUR NAME & ID NUMBER (this is very important!)
Location = Old Main 110 (Debra)
Change “Show time as:” to BUSY

- Click on “Scheduling Assistant” tab
- Change duration to 30 mins
- You will see your name under "Select attendees"
- You will see our availabilities in the NON-BLUE areas.

Change day/time on calendar on the right
Change Duration = 30 mins

- Review dates & times that show “2 of 2 free”

These are the days/times that are available for you to make an appointment.

- Click on the TIME you & your advisor are free.

** DO NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT DURING A CLASS **
Make sure the appointment is for 30 minutes ONLY

- Click back on the "appointment" tab

- Check!

Is the appointment 30 mins?
Have you put your Name & ID in the subject line?
Are YOU free as well as your advisor?
Check the location of your appointment.

- Click “Send”

You’re done! Now, wasn't that simple! You’ll get confirmation once Debra accepts your request for an appointment.
