Texas State University Piano Department is pleased to welcome back young pianists to its annual Young Artist Piano Competition. The 2022 edition will be held at the School of Music, Texas State University on February 12, 2022.

Registration Deadline: January 15, 2022.

The piano area provides our students with several performance and teaching opportunities around the world in order to develop and enhance their careers as soloists, collaborative artists, or teachers. Our students are exposed to a wide variety of professional activities including master classes and lectures by some of the most renowned artists in the world, as well as our annual International Piano Festival and Concerto Competition. In addition to lessons, studio recitals, and other performance projects, students also participate in a weekly piano seminar, where they perform on a regular basis and learn about technique, stage presence, practice methods, and essential concepts of piano pedagogy and literature. Collaborative experiences are an essential part of our pianists. They perform with other musicians through chamber music, piano ensembles, and large ensembles. Additionally, we offer Graduate Instructional and Teaching Assistantships in Accompanying and Class Piano.

Our dynamic piano faculty is comprised of experienced artist-teachers whose careers represent a diversity of backgrounds. Our approach to education encourages students to cultivate their own voices and musical values in order to become well-rounded musicians.

Come join us at Texas State!
