Texas State University-San Marcos School of Music is pleased to announce its annual Young Artist Piano Competition, which will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010. The competition gathers highly gifted young artists from varied ages and locations throughout the state of Texas.
At Texas State, the piano department provides opportunities for pianists to develop their solo and ensemble skills in a wide variety of performance venues, both on campus and in the community. In addition to their weekly lessons, piano students are required to attend a performance class where they play regularly and learn about technique, stage presence, practice methods, audition/jury/competition preparation, and essential concepts of piano pedagogy and literature. Students can take advantage of numerous events throughout the year, including faculty and guest artist recitals, master classes and lectures, and opportunities to collaborate with other instrumentalists in the accompanying program.
Texas State School of Music is an exciting place — a place where students can feel at home — a place where they can reach their full potential. We hope that your students will be among those talented students who explore the opportunities to participate in the numerous musical experiences available through the Texas State School of Music.
We look forward to having you in our campus,
