Cindy Dean was born in San Antonio and at age three moved with her family to San Marcos where she graduated high school in 1975. Upon graduation, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years at Naval Air Station Chase Field. Upon completion of her military service, she began work at Texas State in 1980, serving as secretary to the University Attorney for 12 years. After a one-year absence in which she cared for her newly born nephew, she came to Texas State School of Music in 1993. Ms. Dean is married and has a son who is a graduate of the Sound Recording Technology program at Texas State.
