Mr. John C. Stansberry
Professor Emeritus

John C Stansberry graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and received a Master of Music degree in Oboe Performance from Michigan State University. The early part of his career in music was spent in New South Wales, Australia, where he was orchestra and band conductor in a high school and with professional ensembles. From 1976 to 1981, Mr. Stansberry was Assistant Director of Bands at the Univerity of North Texas.In 1981, he became Director of the Wind Ensemble at Texas State and proceeded to elevate the ensemble to national prominence.

During his years as Director, the Wind Ensemble performed at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention three times, the College Band Directors National Association Southwestern Regional Conference, and the Music Educators National Conference Biennial Conference.

Mr. Stansberry has served as clinician for more than 30 All-Region Bands and has adjucated prestigiou band contests in Canada, Texas, Oklahoma, and Idaho. He has published articles in The Director, The Instrumentalist, and the New South Wales School Band Championship Magazine.
