Richard Hall

Richard Hall

Richard Hall is a Senior Lecturer of Music at Texas State University-San Marcos.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Angelo State University and Master’s Degree in Composition from Texas State University – San Marcos. His teaching duties include Composition, Electronic Composition, Music Technology, and Humanities.  He also assists with the Texas Mysterium for Modern Music Ensemble.


Before teaching at Texas State, Richard was a public school band director in South Texas for several years. During his graduate work at Texas State University, he was the recipient of the Francis R. Schneider fellowship.  Richard has received commissions from Texas State University, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the Shay Ishii Dance Company in Austin, the Wild Basin Woodwind Quintet and several public schools throughout the South. He has also scored two independent films, has several pieces published by Dorn Publications and GoFish Music and has published software and book reviews for the South Central Music Bulletin for which he is also the music graphics editor. His music has also been recorded by the Kiev Philharmonic Orchestra for ERM Media.
 
Richard’s music has been performed at several regional, national and international conferences sponsored by the Texas Society of Music Theorists, the College Music Society, the National Association of Composers USA, the National Flute Association, the Vox Novus 60x60 Contemporary Music Project and the Electronic Music Midwest Festival.  His electronic music has also been included is many sound installations at art museums in many major US cities.  
 
Richard is alumni of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Delta Pi and an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi. He also holds memberships in the National Association of Composers USA, the College Music Society, the Society of Composers, Inc. and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.
