
Caroline Beatty currently serves as Associate Director of Bands at Texas State University-San Marcos. Her responsibilities include conducting the Symphonic Winds, directing the Bobcat Marching Band and Basketball Band, teaching methods classes, and supervising student teachers. Her experience includes a similar position at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. Dr. Beatty also enjoys an active performance and teaching schedule outside of the university. Recently, she has been engaged as a conductor at the Victoria Bach Festival, for a recording project of Austin-based composer Stephen Barber, and with the Louisiana All-State Concert Band. Teaching engagements have included serving as the clinician for the Northwestern State University Conducting Workshop and for various high school bands around Texas.
Prior to her role in higher education, Dr. Beatty taught for thirteen years in public schools in Texas, most recently as Director of Bands at Clear Lake High School in Houston. Concert and marching ensembles under her direction garnered frequent accolades for their performances, including consistent superior ratings and top awards at various festivals in the state and around the country. In 2002, the Clear Lake Wind Ensemble was selected as a Texas Music Educators Association 5A State Honor Band Finalist. She also served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Clear Lake High School and began her career in the Katy Independent School District.
Dr. Beatty holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting from the University of Michigan and holds both a Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of College Band Directors National Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Conductor’s Guild and is listed multiple times in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
